Mirage Esthetics Spa was created out of a deep belief in taking care of the self- mind, body and soul. Our lives get busy, we are running from one appointment to the next, from work to home, from soccer practice to gymnastics competitions and everything in between. What we forget to do is take a moment to slow down, be present in the moment and just BREATHE!
We’ve all hear the popular saying, “You can’t pour from an empty cup.” It’s that you really cannot give anything unless you take care of yourself first.
Mirage Esthetics Spa was built upon four main pillars:
Self-Care is not Selfish
In Denmark, the Danish have a term called Hygge that is about “taking time away from the daily rush to be together with people you care about - or even by yourself - to relax and enjoy life's quieter pleasures.” In India, meditation is a relaxation and focus tool used as part of daily practice along with activities such as yoga. In Italy and Greece, meal times are sacred rituals where families and friends slow down to enjoy time together while cooking and sharing a meal.
Countries all around the world incorporate these moments of peace and mindfulness into their day so they can continue to show up to be their best selves. In North America, we have adopted a “hustle culture” in which we feel like we have to be busy or productive 100% of the time. This has lead to 1/3 Canadians reporting feeling of burnout (a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress). This is only the number of people who are reporting feeling this way.

Clean Beauty that Benefits Both People and Planet
Your skin is the largest organ on your body and has the most potential to be damaged whether it be the sun, pollution, or the chemicals in products that you place on your skin or stress in general. Your skin absorbs these chemicals and then requires your organs to break them down and dispose of them. Over time, this can become difficult on your organs and can potentially lead to diseases.
As much as the chemicals in products have an impact on our bodies, they are also extremely toxic to our environment. Toxic ingredients in common products includes: formaldehyde, mercury, Dibutyl and diethylhexyl phthalates, and PFAS (polyfluoroalkyl substances).
At Mirage Esthetics Spa, we use Eminence Organics as our main skincare line. They are a certified B Corp company who maintain rigorous standards when it comes to keeping their skincare both effective and good for the environment. We also carry many other clean beauty lines in our boutique such as Glo Skin Beauty, Lalicious, Coola and Suntegrity.
We are Stronger as a Community
What we love most about our location in the Upper Oakville Shopping Center is the immense sense of community. It brings us joy coming into work knowing we will get to say hi to some familiar faces, and look forward to meeting new ones. We host events throughout the year to gather like-minded individuals, as well as collaborate with other local small businesses so we can all support each other. We believe in the power of community and look forward to celebrating wins together, or persevering with each other through difficult times.
Giving Back
In continuation of our pillar of supporting each other as a community, we believe that giving back to our community is just as important. We support local schools, charities, food banks, and the like. We carry some brands that are B Corp certified which means they act and do business in a way that supports society as a whole, as well as brands that are dedicated to reducing their carbon footprint and using packaging that can be reused or recycled.
